Message from the Principal
August 8, 2016
I hope that this letter finds you well and your summer has been an enjoyable one for you and your family. The start of another school year is quickly approaching, as we will begin classes earlier than normal on August 24th. When you visit our building it will have a different look this year. We have been under construction this summer and will have some new features to show off on our first day. Some of the renovations include: renovated offices, new entry commons area, new windows and many other upgrades. We are excited to begin the school year and hope you stop in and check us out!.
As a staff we have and will continue to develop ourselves professionally to ensure we are leading the way in Jackson County. One way we continue to lead Jackson County is through our technology integration, as we have 80% of our classrooms where 1:1 technology is available. These opportunities allow our students to experience and engage in a learning environment preparing them for success beyond East Jackson. In addition, we have a newly refurbished digital tech room that will provide expanded learning opportunities for our students. We will continue to expand our technology integration, as we prepare our students for their post secondary path in life.
A continuing initiative this year will consist of targeted instructional support classes for our 7th, 8th & 9th grade math students. We are very pleased with the positive growth this process has provided our students, as we continue to enhance student learning opportunities. We will also be continuing and increasing our collaborative efforts as a staff, as we continue to find better ways to educate your student. I am very proud of our students and staff for their efforts toward improving student achievement.
This is a community school, which means we need to educate as a community. In doing so, I need your help in supporting our policies. I have included our cell phone and attendance policy below. Please take a moment to read them and support our efforts to ensure a quality learning environment for all students.
Grades 7-8 (Cell phones must be in locker at the beginning of the day and remain until the end of the school day.) Grades 9-12 (Cell phones in locker at the beginning of the day and only allowed out during lunch period or when instructed to bring to class by a teacher.) Grades 7-12 (Students who accumulate more than (12) unexcused absences will lose credit in that class. If your child is absent, it is the parents responsibility to contact the office within (2) days for the absence to be excused.
