Teacher Biography
Dear families,
I am looking forward to working together with you to assist your child on their educational journey. I have lived in Jackson all of my life and am an East Jackson graduate. My own educational background includes: Jackson College, Central Michigan University, Ball State University, Michigan State University and Spring Arbor University.
When I am not at school I enjoy spending time with my son,daughter and grandson, traveling, camping, reading and a variety of outdoor activities.
Classroom Notes
Have an enjoyable summer!
A few of the many goals that we will be working on this upcoming year include the following:
–  Printing  first and last names using an upper case letter for the first letter and lower case letters for the rest of the letters.
– Â Recognizing and printing all of the upper and lower case letters of the alphabet.
– Â Learning all of the letter sounds.
– Â Identifying and writing the numbers from 0-30 and writing them in order.
– Â Reading at least 30 sight words.
– Â Sorting objects by size, color and shape.
– Â Identifying the basic plane shapes and 3D figures.
– Â Writing meaningful sentences using punctuation.
– Â Adding and subtracting numbers.
–  Work on refining social skills, such as sharing, using good communication skills. respecting       others, etc…
Our classroom expectations are as follows:
– Â Â No running
– Â Â No inappropriate touching (pushing, hitting, kicking)
– Â Â No loud voices or making noises
– Â Â No bullying (mean words, teasing)
– Â Â No ignoring the quiet sign or resets
Some things that you can do at home to help your child succeed in school include:
– Â Make sure they get a good nights sleep every weeknight.
– Â Feed them a good breakfast each morning or have them eat at school.
– Â Help them to manage their stress.
– Â Reinforce lessons taught at school, including reading to or with your child on a daily basis.
– Â Practice their sight words, numbers, letters and letter sounds with them.
– Â Look for teachable moments at home and take advantage of them.
– Â Maintain open communication with the school and keep me informed of any changes in your child’s life that would adversely affect their educational success.
–Â Participate in the many after school and evening programs offered for families.
