Teacher Biography
Personal:
I was born and raised in Jackson, Michigan. I graduated from East Jackson High School in 1987. I attended Olivet College in Olivet Michigan and graduated in 1992 with a degree in education. While at Olivet I played football and we a member of the 1991 MIAA Championship football team.
Teaching:
I can honestly say I have the best job in the world being a middle school teacher! Each day I am amazed at what
my students teach me! I will be starting my 26th year of teaching this fall. I have been teaching at East Jackson Middle School for 29 of my 31 years. In 31 years, I have taught (6th grade) Math, Social Studies, Language Arts and Science, (7th grade), Social Studies, Language Arts, Science (8th grade), Science, Language Arts, Art and now AP Computer Science Principles. I have been the middle school Athletic director and coached numerous sports from Varsity-7th grade.
Classroom Notes
8th Grade Science is Earth Science
We will be studying volcanoes, Earthquakes and plate boundaries. We will be taking a pre-test prior to each chapter. If your student achieves a 80% or above on the pre-test. I will be creating “Enrichment” activities. These activities tend to be projects that will be assigned outside of the school day.
