Mr. Kenyon

Hello and welcome to my web page.  My name is Earl Kenyon and I teach 4th grade at East Jackson Community Schools.  More specifically, I teach Language Arts to my homeroom students and Mathematics to the entire 4th grade.  The 2022-2023 school year marked my 13th year of teaching.  I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Childhood Education from the State University of New York at Plattsburgh, a Master of Science degree from the State University of New York at Albany in Literacy, as well as a Master of Science degree from Walden University in Instructional Design and Technology. I am currently working on a Masters degree in K-12 Administration from Eastern Michigan University. My teaching background has been diverse.  I have taught 2nd grade, 3rd grade, 4th grade and also worked in Special Education.  I have three sons, Caleb, Donathan, and Zavier, as well as a daughter, Janyla. I also have two family dogs, Basenjis named Gucci and Camo.  In my spare time, I enjoy cooking, baking, reading, and traveling.

Classroom Notes

Have a FABULOUS Summer and see you in the fall! You can help prepare for 4th grade by reading and practicing your math facts over the summer.

Welcome to 4th Grade!

It is important to know that I have high expectations for your child and I will do everything that I am able to in order to help your child achieve success.  I expect that all work that is assigned in class will be completed and turned in on time.  If any situation arises that prevents this, please contact me and we can discuss on an individual basis. All children do not progress at the same pace and to accommodate this, in addition to whole group instruction, students are also worked with in small groups.   Also, students are able to receive tutoring if needed during the afternoon recess time.  Any work that your student does not complete in class will also become homework and will be do the following day.  You can help make sure your child is successful by checking their agenda for assignments and make sure that your child completes them.

Communication is a key to success in school.  Students are much more successful when teachers and parents work together.  I look forward to getting to know each one of you and working with you during this school year.  One way that we can communicate is the student agenda.  I check them every morning and will respond to any questions that you may have.  Please sign your student’s agenda each evening so that I know you are aware of their assignments and have seen any important information in the agenda.  You may also communicate via telephone by calling the school or email at earl.kenyon@eastjacksonschools.org .   Friday folders will be sent home every Friday with important notes and corrected work.  Please sign these and send it back to school the following Monday.  I also encourage you to check Power School on a regular basis to find your student’s grades and and missing assignments.

Throughout the year, Schoology may be used as well for student learning and assignments. That can be accessed by going to ej.schoology.com

I look forward to working with you and your child this year as we embark together on this educational journey.

Sincerely,

Mr. Kenyon
