Xello
Our school participates in a wonderful online program called Xello. Students can search for careers, hear interviews of people in those careers, check out wages, and search for colleges. They can save information and update their personal Educational Development Plan-EDP. Counselors work with students to learn many aspects of the program. The site is www.xello.com.Student access Xello through their PowerSchool page.
About College Visits
The East Jackson Counseling Department encourages students to visit the colleges they are interested in. You can schedule visits through the admissions office at most colleges and universities. This is a great way to get on campus and learn about the programs or majors that students are interested in. Jackson College will have a College Night this fall with representatives from many schools available to answer questions. I will post this date here once it becomes available. Representatives from various colleges will also be visiting EJHS this fall. Juniors and Seniors are able to attend these visits.
Senior Information
Congratulations on being a senior. This will be a busy year as you continue the regular course work and participate in school activities. In addition, you will need to start making plans for next year. Completing college applications, scholarship searches, re-taking ACT test are activities that you may need to budget time for. Attached is a link that will help guide you through this process. If you have questions, please contact Mr. Fowler in the Guidance Office.
A new support program for our seniors has been added this year through the College & Career Access Center. Sarah Beadenkopf will be coming to EJHS and will meet with all seniors to assist with college applications, scholarship searches and career planning. Later in the year she will also be available to assist students and parents with the FAFSA application. The College & Career Access Center has some evening and weekend hours so students and parents can take advantage of these services outside of regular school hours. Call 990-0671 to make an appointment. The office is located in the Jackson Crossing, in the Target wing.
